Latest zbrush work

Here is a quick preview of my latest zbrush sculpt, more to follow on this one. Its taken me about 12 hours altogether, spread over a couple of weeks, no concept sketches, just playing around trying to become more fluent in zbrush, thought I would update this post with a zbrush render. Tylwydd teg update

Just thought I would add a quick update regarding a model I am working on, soon be finished, as long as nothing unforeseen comes along that changes my priorities. Have a little tweeking to do on the pose, hands mainly, so they are actually holding on to the tree, and have a level of detail/realism to add, hope you like it so far. Ps, stupid thumbnail wont work properly, click for full image:)   Related Images: ...

Self tuition

Self tuition

Well, been very busy with some personal education recently, got a new pc, itel i7 16 gig of ram so been teaching myself some high end stuff using particles and liquid simulations, anybody who says its easy knows nothing. One of the biggest things I have learnt is that without planning from the outset, you are doomed to failure, pipeline, pipeline, pipeline. Its obvious to me now that if you plan things correctly it will half your problems( don’t think you will ever have none, if you don’t have any, your not pushing high enough)....

What ever happened to Rustboy?

What ever happened to Rustboy?

http://www.rustboy.com/rustweb.htm Way back in my college days I came about this site that tells a story about an animated character called Rustboy. It was the brainchild of a Brian Taylor.  An inspiration to a lot of artists who began moving over to cgi. What also made it good was that he was doing it alone and only using cheep of the shelf software, infini-3d to be precise.  Having typed  ‘Rustboy’ into google I must say I was surprised to see the site still exists, maybe there is still a spark there after all. If you have...

Waves

Looks like not much has been happening with this site, your right, Ive been realy busy with things lately and feel the site has been neglected. There are loads of good thing on the horizon especially with my 3d visualisation work, mostly r+d so not much to put up here yet. What i will do is add a taster for you to look at and hopefully like. It was created in 3d studio max with a 4 second loop. The progress of the tylwydd teg model has come to a standstill for the time being, but i will get back to it and finnish it, I promise Anyway hope you...

Model update

Been very busy with work, but have found time to do some more work on my zbrush model/sculpture, learning curve still rising sharply, but I’m still coping, just about. Getting all the maps into max has been a pain, even though Im not done with texturing, I felt I needed to learn the process, sometime it pays to jump ahead just to see whats round the corner, as you can see have added a lot of detail to the head, also done the hands. Have learnt an awfull lot in this project and am only half way through. Its always best to have...

Model so far

Just thought I would post an update on my model, retopologised it, coulnt go as far as i wanted, my computer just isnt up to manipulating 4.5 million polies, had to make to with one subdividion less, model is now as 1.28 million, still i think it will be enough, as it is  part of the learning curve, next one, I will plan a little better, reckon my machine will handle 2.5 million . Ok, so as you can see , I am now starting to refine the smaller details and structure, still not to worried about his clothing just yet, he may now get some sort of...

A zbrush project

Well, been very busy the last few days, sorting a website out, and finally working on a zbrush project that I have been trying to find time to start for a long time. Its now well on it way, but I suspect there will be a few problems to come I have taken some  snapshots at stages of the build so far, and I will try and explain the procedure  for each photo.           A. This is one of the many ways to start a model in zbrush. Its constructed using what’s called a zsphere. These zspheres join together and can...

zbrush starts here

Am about to start a sculpture in zbrush of a character that was featured in a short film I created for my final degree project , a lot of time of this project  was spent doing the preparations, storyboards, story reals, colour tests model tests, what you have to understand is that I am not an animator, this is more about the creativity involved in producing such a movie. The story is based on local legend/folklore ( when I say local I mean Snowdonia) Y Tylwydd Teg. over the next few weeks I will post updates on my progress. Hope you like it...
