My First 3D animation “A celtic Tale”

My very first delve into the world of 3d(11 years ago), completed as my final project for my degree. I am no animator and was not out to become one with this video, it was more about the construction of a short film from concept, through the story boarding to final film. Total time was 1 year, concept and storyboard took about 6 months, set and character construction about 3 months, animating, rendering and editing another 3 months

Final Horse Image

Final Horse Image

Hi Well been very busy with work and a few other things recently, but I have found a bit of time to finish my horse sculp. Its not turned out exactly as planned, this is mainly due to my inexperience with zbrush and its posing tool set. My initial intention was to duplicate my first horse and use the zsphere skeleton and posing method, but  I just couldn’t get it to work aswell as expected. My retopology was not quite suitable for changing the pose as dramatically as I wanted. It was, however, good enough to repose  slightly  which...

Horsey

If you have looked at my sketches and paintings, you will probably see that horses play a considerable part in my work. This stems from a life of not being to far away from them. I use to ride when I was younger, but havn’t been on one for years now. So I thought it was time to take my knowledge of them and convert it into a piece of work. In the final sculpt there will be two horses, one grazing and one lying on the ground, head up. The overall mood will be one of relaxation, fine weather and no stress! I expect the sculpt to take a few...

A version of ratty

The image below has been created in photoshop using render passes from within zbrush, The sculpt was an interesting one for me. It was a learning process with a difference, I wasn’t out to learn more about zbrush, although I did of course. It was more about the design process and how a character can be created straight  from the imagination. Normally you would go through a regular design process, that is work out who the character is, how he looks, how he would behave, moving on to drawings and finally creating a character in 3d and...

Quick Update, Ratty sculpt

Quick Update, Ratty sculpt

hi all, just thought I would add a quick update regarding my latest sculpt. At the stage where I am adding some finer detail, ie the wrinkles and lumps and bumps on the surface. I find this stage quite difficult because it never looks right until you have gone to a higher level of detail, this higher level forces the lower level to blend in and become an integral part of the surface make up, at the moment it looks to harsh, but you have to push through and have faith. New sculpt on it’s way

hi all It’s been a little while, had some work done on my studio and a few other things going on. Have started on a new sculpt, trying something a little different and trying to develop a character using pure zbrush and using it as a 3d sketch book and adjusting the sculpt as I go. Be interesting how it turns out. Here is a couple of screenshots to be going on with. Related Images: ...
